Finished art - New Splash Page!

Who says the splash page is dead? I sure as heck don't! I love splash pages! Draw the audience into the comic book with something big and dramatic - that's what I say.

Anywho, I added this splash page because I felt the original page one was not punchy enough, plus I thought a little backstory for Jack was needed. So there you go. Now we know Jack got bit by his daddy and was subsequently transformed by the zombie virus into the responsibility-challenged, laser-shooting supernatural we know and love.

Just so you know I've changed the first few pages quite a bit from the preview , showing off Jack's new-found powers a bit more as he blows up cars, zombies, and propane tanks with his laser eyes. I'll post some of this new artwork soon!

Monsterus - I think this is the final one :)

So I was thinking...my old Monsterus design wasn't animal-like enough. I wanted him to be a wild beast, not just a big old shambling zombie. So I decided to make him a were-rat...thing. Fingers crossed this is the keeper (I hope so as I'm doing the final art on Monsterus' first appearance this week!).

Rus' story arc will be how he devolves into his animal side and goes wild, losing his humanity, so I hope this design reflects that better. Plus I always thought if I was a kid, I'd love to turn into some sort of wild animal. It just seems a cooler thing to be than some old zombie with its guts hangin' out. While that design was interesting, it wasn't what I really wanted for this character. So here ya go! Hopefully this comes across as frightening and creepy and not just weird!

Heroes Rising is now "Heroes of the Dead"

You heard it here first: Heroes Rising is now “Heroes of the Dead”! TM Trademark Glen Specter!

I decided on the new title after I typed "Heroes Rising" into Google and starting seeing hits on some big video game tournament. Soooo...I thought, what the hell, I'm not married to the title, and I wanted a unique thread on Twitter and Tumblr...so there you have it. The trademarking business is to establish formally that as of this date I began developing the brand called "Heroes of the Dead", which can be protected under Trademark law. Look at me! I'm branding!

Stay tuned for more artwork and news on Heroes of the Dead!

O Colour, Where Art Thou?

I’ve been really, really, really struggling with the colors in my comic book. I suck at colour. I’ve lost sleep over colour. I wish colour would just die. But then I found this comic book that exploded my brain and helped me get my colour back on track.
